‘Twas the Night of Invasion
Twas the night of invasion, and all over Reach,
All the Covenant was stirring, especially Elites.
The settlers were hung, by the meat hooks with care,
In hopes that team Noble, soon would be there.
The Spartans were harnessed, in their Falcons up high,
While thermals of innies danced from the sky.
And Carter in his Mjolnir, and Six in his kit,
Headed to Visegrad, whose relay didn’t transmit.
When out on the farm, there arose such a clatter,
They sprang into action, to see what was the matter.
Away to the window they flew like a flash,
Made ready their sidearms, prepared for a clash.
The Phantoms above emitted a glow,
Gave a luster of bloodshed to bodies below.
When what to their augmented eyes did deploy,
But a sword-armed Elite, and eight tiny Unggoy.
With his burgundy armor, and large ornate helmet,
They knew in a moment, he must be Zealot.
More rapid than falcons the Sangheili came,
And he grunted, and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now Yipyap! now Jubjub! now Slirtflip and Yolo!
On, Grubtab! on, Doplip! on, Zublik and Blinlo!
To the roof of the farmhouse! Get over that wall!
Now fire away! fire away! fire away all!”
As rats that before the saturating flood come,
When they meet with an obstacle, climbers they become.
So up on the homestead the Unggoy they flew,
With their pistols full charged, and the Elite Zealot too.
And then, in sheer terror, they heard on the roof,
The thumping and clawing of each little hoof.
As they drew out their ARs, and were turning around,
Through the doorway the Zealot came with a bound.
He was dressed all in armor, from his head past his knees,
And his harness was damaged from several HVAPs.
A glowing blue saber he held in his hand,
And it looked like the reaper might be in demand.
His eyes – they stared daggers! his mandibles scary!
His arms were like sinew, his bellow, how eerie!
His gaped quad-hinged mouth was stretched like a flower,
And his rippling chest showed Noble his power.
The stump of an innie held tight in his grip,
And the blood began to pool at his feet with a drip.
He has a long face and a strong armored torso,
That shook when he growled, when he screamed even more so.
He towered over Noble, a right terrifying sight,
They held fast when they saw him, not admitting the fright.
A swipe from his blade, and a bow from his head,
Soon gave them to know they had something to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight for the kill,
Noble filled him with lead, then he fell and went still.
And laying her fingers inside of the console,
Kat patched into the bundle, contact command the main goal.
Carter sprang to the headset, to Holland spoke the new threat,
Disbelief on the line now, Actual audibly upset.
But they heard him exclaim, Reach’s loss feared to befall,
Winter Contingency is nigh, may God help us all.”
